Kartini Day is a historic day for Indonesian women where every April 21st people in Indonesia celebrate the birth of great lady R.A. Kartini, one of the Indonesian national heroine and a pioneer in the emancipation of Indonesian women. It’s been over 110 years since Indonesian heroine R.A. Kartini penned her thoughts on the emancipation of women. Considered the pioneer of women’s rights in Indonesia, Kartini paved the way for many others in her wake to continue the fight for respect and equal opportunity.
In commemoration of the Kartini Day 2015, The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta celebrated a festive Kartini Day by holding a painting exhibition collaborated with ‘Komunitas Muda Pelukis Pecinta Bangsa’ where all the paintings are painted by women’s painter. Meanwhile, in tribute to Raden Ajeng Kartini, all female employees wearing Indonesian traditional outfits ‘Kebaya’ which usually worn by Royal Princess in Java and famously identical with Ibu Kartini’s outfits.
